Gibson Arnold & Associates is seeking an attorney with 8+ years of experience to join a firm in multiple locations. The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for:
- Leading defense of employment practices claims—before administrative agencies and in state/federal courts—addressing discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and related torts;
- Managing class-action or collective claims (e.g., wage-and-hour, PAGA), often collaborating with multi-state or national defense teams;
- Defending benefit-related claims, including fiduciary liability under ERISA, and other non-discrimination claims (e.g., False Claims Act);
- Offering coverage analysis and counseling for insureds and insurance carriers, including claim notifications, policy limits, exclusions, retroactive dates, and deductibles;
- Analyzing EPL insurance policy language regarding third-party coverage, wage-and-hour sublimits, shrinking-limits clauses, extended reporting period provisions, and exclusions;
- Drafting motions, discovery requests, briefs; taking and defending depositions; handling pretrial strategy, settlement negotiations, and trials or arbitrations; leading in court hearings and managing appellate work as needed;
- Conducting workplace investigations relating to harassment, fraud, privacy or compliance issues (e.g., FCPA, AML, HIPAA breaches);
- Serving as primary attorney-client interface; mentoring junior staff; formulating risk management strategies; delivering CLE and training seminars to clients and brokers.
